What Are Grid Tie Inverters?

Grid-tie inverters give solar systems the security of fall back to the grid when the sun goes down and the benefit of solar power during the day with credit off the bill for the solar power generated that has not been used by the household. Using the free power provided during sunlight hours produces the largest return as this power is directly saving the full cost of electricity that would otherwise have to be purchased from your electricity retailer.

For those on a fixed income or those living at home in the day, solar power gives the householder some control over their power bill. With year on year increases in power prices and reductions in the hardware costs associated with solar generation solar is now an economically sound proposition. Even with expensive US inverters the arithmetic adds up, but with JFY inverters the economics are overwhelming.

Grid Tie Inverters

Grid Tie inverters are the key component of a solar system. They take the DC output from a string of connected solar panels and convert this to AC in phase with the power coming in from the power grid. This AC feeds the house power supply to provide for the electrical needs of the household. Households that realign the timing of their power use to those times when their solar generation is sufficient, e.g. hot water heating, spa pool heating etc can maximise the value of their solar investment. Power is supplied as usual from the grid at night. If the household is unable to use all of the power they generate then the surplus is fed back into the grid and the gentailer will pay for this power in the form of a credit against the household power bill.
